The recently-released National Association of REALTORS 2014 Member Profile reveals that the average income for a REALTORS in 2013 rose to $47,700, a significant 9.6 percent increase from 2012’s $43,500. Both of these figures display impressive improvement when compared to the mean income of 2011, which rested at $34,900.

Orlando closing agents and real estate experts believe that this continued increase in average REALTORS income is due to rising home prices and sales. The average home price grew by 11.5 percent in 2013, reflecting this notion. As we have seen over time, Central Florida in particular has been a hotspot for investors and commercial projects during recent years. The real estate market continues to heal and improve from the bubble’s burst.

A number of factors come into play when determining the average income of REALTORS. Data demonstrates that income improves with experience, as members of the NAR with over 16 years of experience earned an average of $70,200, while members with three to five years earned about $30,100. Additionally, a number of new members are being drawn to the real estate industry. The average age and years of experience of REALTORS both declined during 2013.

The comparison of decreased experience with increased income does indicate that the healing real estate market plays the largest part in REALTORS’ improved incomes. As the industry continues to level, we should see improvements throughout 2014.
